These Albums Will Change Your Life

Lil Wayne- Tha Carter III
OK, so I still hate Lil Wayne as a person, but that's besides the point. This is fire. There are actually no tracks of any substance or any semblance of structure on this LP. However, there is incredible wordplay, daft one liners ("I be wildin' like Capital One/What is in your wallet?!") & confusing similes ("if I don't know the answer, it's probably on the web like I'm a damn Tarantula"). The production is top notch (two Kanye West beats, tracks by The Alchemist, Swizz Beats & more), the guests outstanding (career defining verses from Fabolous & Juelz Santana) & it's all brilliant fun. Pick up asap, my friend.

N*E*R*D-Seeing Sounds
Concept albums rarely ever deliver nowadays (American Gangster wasn't really a concept album & A Grand Don't Come For Free wasn't that strong), so my expectations of this (an album about Pharell's real life struggle with Synthanesia)weren't that high. Add to that, N*E*R*D's last album was the rather underwhelming Fly Or Die & this wasn't looking like album of the year. But boy, did they prove me wrong.
Seeing Sounds blends all the best elements of traditional Neptunes with drum n bass, classic rap & much more. Both Pharrell & Shae have stepped up the bars & the album is incredibly cohesive. There are a few stinkers, but the bangers more than make up for it. Star Trak is most definitely back.
