And the winner is... Freezi!!

This Brixton, South London based rapper/grime MC has been around for some time, but started making waves in '08 with his Danja produced, Timbaland sampling hit "Space Guy". The track has been making waves online & anticipation has steadily built for his debut solo mixtape A Lil Glance, which drops next year.

An as yet untitled album will follow shortly after & he will touring throughout 2009. Don't say you weren't warned!

Responsible for some of the poppiest tracks this side of Ladyhawke, this Blackpool born, London based singer is set for HUGE things in 2009. Her production comes courtesy of Hot Chip, her fans include Jools Holland & Brandon Flowrs to name a few.

In '08 she made some noise, but come summer '09, you won't be able to escape Little Boots, so get used to it now!

Best Album

The winner is... "Q-Tip- The Renaissance"!!

The best comeback rap music has seen in some time goes (not surprisingly) to the original back pack rapper, Kahmal The Abstract.

His first album in years features live instrumentation, a great supporting cast (including J Dilla & Noarah Jones) & the brilliant wordplay we've come to expect from one the greatest emcees of all time.

Buy this. You will not regret it.

Pro Green dropped the scorching hot Green EP & Jada dropped a gang of freestyle's building anticapation for his Roc-A-Fella records debut The next Kiss. If these are only previews of what to expect from their next LPs, '09 already belongs to this two.

The B.B. Manik Awards!

Best Remix

The Winner is... "Crimewave (The Crystal Castles Remix)" By Health!!

The original is a violent, noisy affair which it's almost physically exhausting to listen to. The remix is melodic & has a kick ass beat which is complemented well by Alice Glass' excellent vocals. They went on to do bigger things in '08, but this is where it started for the new stars of punk rock.

Soul music has seen a resurgence of late, what with John Legend, Estelle & Adele having massive success. Soul entering back into the charts is thanks in no small part, to Maroon 5, whose blend of soul, r&b & rock has seen them creating some of the biggest pops hits of recent years.

Tomorrow (or Tuesday if you live in the States), sees the release of their new remix album Call & Response. This unique collection features production from Pharrell, Mark Ronson, Swizz Beats & more.

Here's a preview.

Video: KiD CuDi - Day N Nite

Adding to the already stellar line of Kanye West proteges (John Legend, Mr. Hudson), Kid Cudi has been bubbling on the scene with this remake of his hit single for a while now. It's finally getting an official release & I think it could be a number 1. Good luck Cudi.
